16 players entered our first ever annual knockout tournament back in early July, and following 3 rounds of Swiss format matches followed by a straightforward knockout stage, the final (held 4 weeks ago) was contested by Willie Craig and Jim Smart. In a first to 13 point match the champion this year is Jim who triumphed 13-4. Last night (26th Oct) on our club night at The Bell Rock, the prize giving was finally held where Jules presented Jim with the glass ‘shard’ trophy, and both players received engraved solid oak doubling cubes as permanent mementoes.
